RICHARD ROSSITER - EARLY 1964

Richard Rossiter, like Rich Liebe, has also promised to grace these pages with his own autobiography.  Until he gets that done, he will have to put up with the embarrassment of having one of the other Regents try real hard to say something nice about him.  Back in the 60's the other band members called him Dick.  He now prefers to be called Richard.  So being the good friends the rest of the band members are, we will honor his desires, but with a twist...  We call him Richard AFKAD (The Artist Formerly Known as Dick) Rossiter.

AFKAD, a graduate of Lakes High School in Tacoma, Washington, played in other groups before joining the Regents.  In fact, his group, The Columbians formed the basis for the Regents when Rich Liebe enlisted AFKAD, along with the Columbian's sax player and a guitarist.  Dave Roland was added on drums.  Billy McPherson replaced the saxophonist, the other guitarist left, and then finally Sammy came in on bass and the Regents were born.

When the original Regents broke up in '65, AFKAD moved south to California for a while, then did a stint in the U.S. Army, as so many other young men did in those days.  Never one to do anything half-way, AFKAD (the one we all would have voted "most likely to join a hippy commune") didn't just join the Army, he joined Special Forces (Green Berets).  The training in Special Forces is the best the Army has to offer, and frequently includes language training.  We don't know which language he studied, but he told us he became a cunning linguist and was very good at it.   Eventually he went back to school to complete bachelor and masters degrees.

Richard is now an avid rock climber and a prolific author of rock climbing guide books.  Check out his WEBSITES.  He will have another book available around October 1999.  (look for his books in Amazon.com.... or at FalconOnline.com ... a shameless plug!).  Richard is also a personal fitness trainer.

He still plays a sexy guitar, and his voice went from great to very cool.

Richard "AFKAD" Rossiter, August 1999

"Richard is so physically fit it makes me want to puke", says Sammy in 1999.  "Doesn't he believe in the two basic food groups... beer and pizza?"
